The Boston and Boston College communities are invited to experience the Martin Luther King, Jr., Memorial Gathering, Monday, January 21, 2013, 7:30PM in Gasson 100. The gathering, an Ecumenical Worship Service celebrating the life and legacy of the late, Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, will feature components from the African-American church tradition.

This joyful gathering will feature the United Voices of Freedom, a joint musical effort of campus choirs and singers. This year’s group is composed of Against the Current, the Liturgy Arts Group, the Voices of Imani and other campus singers. The gathering will also feature the dynamic, Reverend Gina Casey, newly installed pastor of the Columbus Avenue A.M.E. Zion Church in Boston’s southend.

Come talk about the Presidential Election and watch live coverage of the results next Tuesday night in the Cabaret Room! Georgetown "Election" Cupcakes, Roggie's pizza, cookies and much more will be served! Play Pin the Tail on th Donkey & Elephant and color in the states with election results. Political rounds of trivia and a non-partisan coalition discussion will also take place. Co-sponsored with UGBC, BC Civic Engagement Initiative, No Labels, Americans for Informed Democracy and the Eagle Political Society.

Members of the SPO staff visited local charity Cradles to Crayons on October 25th. C to C’s mission is to “provide children from birth through age 12, living in homeless or low-income situations, with the essential items they need to thrive - at home, at school and at play”. The volunteer work provided by the staff members impacted over 300 local children. This SPO activity is a larger part of the Division of Student Affairs commitment to live our mission of service at Boston College. Many of the departments within the division have committed to collecting items for donation during a month of the academic year and providing staff to volunteer for a couple hours that month.

The Elections Committee is looking for enthusiastic and motivated new members! The roles and responsibilities of the Elections Committee are:

• Facilitate both Senate & UGBC Presidential/ VP elections
• Manage presidential and vice-presidential debate
• Approve campaign materials
